I personally have been journaling daily for over a year and half now and feel much lighter mentally.

Sitting down for 15-20 minutes everyday and pouring out your heart and emotions that are distressing helps energize your mind. It's like a reset button to clear your mind from any spiraling thoughts that may be haunting you over and over again until you accept them and express them.

On days when I procrastinate and skip my journaling, I feel a heavy discomfort in my chest and become easily irritated because I've trapped all the anxious feelings inside me.

There’s a fine line between feeling your emotions without any sense of guilt or overwhelm and getting stuck in your emotions. We don’t want to ignore these feelings of anxiety, depression, fear, or any overwhelming emotion so they don’t stay repressed and negatively affect our overall health in other ways.

But at the same time we can’t put all of our attention on these negative thoughts throughout the entire day. This mentally drains our energy and takes away the beauty of experiencing mindfulness in morning our daily activities.

So let's motivate each other and start implementing daily journaling into our lives so we can feel light. By setting aside 10-20 minutes of journaling time to journal your heart out on a piece of paper or digitally on your phone, you can program your mind to let all the stress out once a day so it can focus on other lovely things and feel at peace.

Start by thinking out loud into your paper. NO FILTER. Write everything that comes to mind whether it’s good or bad, nice or mean. It doesn’t matter. Usually the first few minutes of writing are very negative which is much needed. Once you let out the scary thoughts that you’ve been avoiding you’ll have more mental capacity to think positively.

Then write a few positive affirmations such as I am loved, I am calm, I am successful.

Finish up your journaling by writing three things your grateful for to count your blessings and thank Allah SWT.

Remember every thought we think is not a fact so don’t always have to believe it’s true. Love your mind and body by spending time journaling your heart out daily.

lots of love,

NAS
